Vanilla fragrances

Vanilla is the most universally liked smell in perfumery, and the most misunderstood: real vanilla scents range from custard-sweet to dark, boozy and almost smoky. As an accord it is a base-note glue, rounding sharp edges and making everything above it feel warmer and closer to skin. Vanilla-forward scents wear intimate rather than loud, peak in cold months, and layer beautifully under spice and tobacco.
