Noir Extreme arrived in 2015 as a sweeter, more amber-gourmand interpretation within the Tom Ford Noir line, distinct from the original 2012 Noir's classic oriental direction. It was developed by perfumers Yann Vasnier and Olivier Gillotin, who anchored it with a spiced kulfi (Indian almond-pistachio dessert) accord over amber, sandalwood and vanilla. The fragrance became a word-of-mouth hit prized for warmth and approachability, earning a strong reputation as a date-night and compliment-getting scent. Its success drove flankers including Noir Extreme Parfum and Noir Anthracite. It remains one of Tom Ford's most recommended men's ambers for fall and winter.
