Eros launched in 2012, composed by Aurelien Guichard and named after the Greek god of love, with a blue bottle echoing classical Greek imagery and the Versace Medusa motif. It paired a cool mint-and-green-apple opening with a sweet tonka-vanilla-ambroxan base, a combination that proved hugely popular with younger buyers. Within a few years it became one of the best-selling designer men's fragrances in the world and a fixture in nightclubs and gyms. The success spawned a large flanker range including Eros Flame, Eros Parfum and several limited editions, plus a women's Eros Pour Femme. Its mainstream ubiquity made it both a frequent first-fragrance recommendation and, for some enthusiasts, an over-exposed 'safe' choice.
A loud, sweet mint-and-vanilla woody that became one of the defining mass-appeal masculines of the 2010s. Big, candy-fresh and easy to like for a young crowd, though it leans heavily synthetic and can feel ubiquitous.
