The story

Herod launched in 2012 within Parfums de Marly's men's line, composed by Hamid Merati-Kashani for the house Julien Sprecher founded in 2009. It became one of the brand's strongest cold-weather performers and a frequent comparison point against Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille, which it undercuts on price while offering a similar sweet-tobacco character. Osmanthus and cinnamon distinguish its opening before the tobacco-leaf-and-vanilla drydown takes over for hours. Alongside Layton and Pegasus, it helped establish Parfums de Marly as a dominant force in the accessible-niche men's market through the 2010s.

Our take

A rich, sweet tobacco-and-vanilla scent leaning warm and spicy, often described as a smoother, sweeter alternative to Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. The cinnamon and pink pepper give the opening lift while the tobacco-vanilla-vetiver base keeps it cozy and long-lasting.
