Amber fragrances

Amber the note (as opposed to ambergris) is a perfumer's construction: labdanum resin, vanilla and benzoin blended to smell golden, warm and enveloping, the fireplace-glow effect that anchors half of winter perfumery. It is less a smell you point to than a temperature a scent radiates. 1 Million pours amber under its spiced leather shine, La Nuit de L'Homme uses it to make cardamom feel intimate, and even fresh scents like Acqua di Giò carry a trace to keep the sea air from feeling cold. Amber-rich fragrances bloom on warm skin and in cold air, and they linger famously on clothing. Learn it in Grand Soir if you can: that is amber served neat.
