The story

Dolce & Gabbana launched The One for Men as an Eau de Toilette in 2008, composed by Olivier Polge, and the Eau de Parfum arrived in 2015 as a deeper, warmer interpretation of that signature. Where the original EDT was a polished spicy-amber daily scent, the EDP amplifies the tobacco and amber to feel plusher and more nocturnal. The composition keeps the recognizable spicy-citrus opening with ginger and cardamom before settling into a sweet, ambery tobacco drydown. It became one of the brand's most recognizable masculines, frequently spotlighted in campaigns fronted by high-profile actors. The fragrance sits firmly in the accessible, warm oriental lane that dominated mainstream men's perfumery in the 2010s. Its broad appeal made it a frequent gifting choice and a department-store mainstay.

Our take

A richer, sweeter take on the classic The One DNA, leaning into tobacco and spice for a cozy cold-weather warmth. It is comforting and approachable rather than challenging, which is exactly why it became a reliable date-night staple.
