Dolce & Gabbana launched Light Blue in 2001, commissioning master perfumer Olivier Cresp to bottle the feeling of a Sicilian summer — a two-year process that ultimately produced one of the most enduring women's fragrances of the 21st century. Cresp, who describes himself as a romantic, drew on the luminosity and warmth of Sicily — a place of deep personal significance to designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana — weaving its sun-bleached lemons and sea air into a crisp citrus-aquatic structure. The result is a Sicilian lemon and Granny Smith apple opening over bamboo and jasmine that dries down to a soft cedar and musk base — instantly recognizable and effortlessly wearable. Its bottle, a clean rectangular flacon in icy blue, echoed the Mediterranean sky. Light Blue went on to become one of the best-selling women's fragrances on the planet, a perennial summer staple whose sheer longevity across more than two decades speaks to how accurately it captured a universal mood: warmth, lightness, and uncomplicated pleasure. In 2025 Dolce & Gabbana released an Eau de Parfum version to mark the scent's enduring relevance.
A sun-drenched Sicilian citrus and apple breeze layered over bamboo and white flowers — the quintessential warm-weather fragrance for women who favor effortless freshness.
