Coco Mademoiselle launched in 2001, created by Chanel in-house perfumer Jacques Polge as a younger, brighter reinterpretation of the spirit of the original 1984 Coco. Polge paired a sparkling citrus-and-orange-blossom opening with a rose-jasmine heart over a refined, almost clean patchouli and vetiver base, producing a modern fruity amber floral. It was positioned to capture a younger generation of Chanel customers and quickly became one of the best-selling prestige women's fragrances in the world. Long-running advertising campaigns starring Keira Knightley reinforced its image of free-spirited, confident femininity. It has since spawned an Eau de Toilette, an Intense, and a popular body-care line, but the EDP remains the reference version.
A bright, elegant fruity-citrus opening laid over a clean patchouli-vetiver base that smells expensive, confident and timeless. A fruity amber floral, it's the modern Chanel for women who find No. 5 too vintage.
