Bleu de Chanel debuted as an EDT in 2010, with the more concentrated and warmer Eau de Parfum following in 2014, both composed by Chanel in-house perfumer Jacques Polge. The line was positioned as a modern, slightly rebellious counterpoint to Chanel's classic Allure Homme, and its first campaign was directed by Martin Scorsese. The EDP deepens the citrus-woody structure of the original with more incense, sandalwood, and amber warmth, making it work across all four seasons. It became one of the pillars of the modern 'blue' masculine genre alongside Dior Sauvage. The fragrance is frequently recommended as a near-universal blind-buy and remains one of Chanel's best-selling men's scents.
The richer, smoother sibling of the original EDT: a fresh citrus-and-pepper opening that settles into a smoky-woody incense-and-vetiver base. Endlessly versatile and arguably the most universally flattering of the modern masculines.
