Alien was released in 2005 as Mugler's follow-up to Angel, composed by Dominique Ropion and Laurent Bruyere around a deliberately minimalist accord of Sambac jasmine, cashmeran and amber. The brief was to build an entire fragrance on the contrast between a single luminous white flower and a warm woody-amber base. Like Angel before it, it became a flagship pillar for the house, spawning a large family of flankers including Alien Goddess and several Hypnotic variations. Its purple faceted gemstone bottle and refillable system echoed Angel's department-store strategy. It is consistently among the best-selling women's amber fragrances in Europe and a benchmark for the jasmine-amber style.
A dense, glowing blend of solar jasmine and warm woody amber that projects across a room and lasts all day. Where Angel is dessert, Alien is incense-like floral warmth — equally potent, more polished.
