Aventus launched in 2010 to mark Creed's 250th anniversary, developed by Olivier Creed with his son Erwin Créed. Conceived around the strength and ambition of Napoleon, it paired a juicy pineapple-and-blackcurrant opening with a dry, smoky birch heart over oakmoss, musk and ambergris. The result was a fruity-chypre that felt both fresh and powerful, and it rapidly became Creed's best-selling scent of all time. Aventus single-handedly spawned an entire 'smoky pineapple' genre and is the single most cloned men's fragrance of the 2010s. Its batch-to-batch variation became a famous talking point in the fragrance community, with collectors trading notes on preferred lots.
The most influential men's fragrance of the modern era: a smoky pineapple-and-birch fruity-chypre that smells expensive and assertive without being heavy. Batch variation is real, but the DNA is unmistakable and endlessly imitated.
